Saydet al Talleh, Our Lady of the Hill, is one of the landmark churches of Deir el Qamar and a focal point of the old town’s skyline. Dedicated to the Virgin, it stands among the palaces and the midan of the former capital of Mount Lebanon, where Christian and Muslim monuments have shared the same streets for centuries. The approach, the façade and the view back over the tiled roofs are the reasons visitors include it on a walking tour with the Fakhreddine Mosque and Marie Baz Museum. Come outside service hours if you only want to see the architecture, and with discretion if a liturgy is underway. It is essential to any guide of churches in the Chouf.
