Mseilha Fort sits on a rock pinnacle above the Nahr el Jawz near Deir el Nouriyeh, on the road between Batroun and Tripoli. The small crusader and later castle guards the passage where the coastal route is pinched by the mountain. A bridge, a gate and compact battlements make it a short, satisfying visit, especially if you are already driving the north coast for Batroun’s sea wall and Byblos. The rock is steep; stay on the path. It is not a vast citadel like Tripoli’s, which is the charm: one look and you understand why anyone would fortify this pinch point. Sea, river and stone in one frame.
