Al Menchiye is a garden and shaded public green in Deir el Qamar, a place to sit after walking the midan, the mosques and the churches of the old town. Parks in this dense historic centre are small but valuable: plane or pine shade, a bench and a view of stone roofs. It suits families and anyone pacing a long day of Chouf monuments, with Beiteddine and Moussa Castle nearby if you are travelling by car. Do not expect a formal botanical garden; expect a local park that makes the town liveable. Combined with Herch al Baladye and Al Ram, it shows the softer, planted side of Deir el Qamar beyond the palaces.
