Baadaran pine forest is the woodland above Baadaran village in the upper Chouf, a nature sight of Aleppo or stone pine, dry needles underfoot and long views toward the Barouk ridge. It is an easier walk than the cedar reserve and a natural pair with the village castle, the old grape press and the Church of St Elijah. Summer afternoons smell of resin; winter can bring cloud on the road. Stay on existing paths, do not light fires and take rubbish away. Travellers who already know Barouk sometimes prefer this smaller forest precisely because it is quieter. It is one of the better pine stops in the Chouf.
