Barouk River is the mountain stream that drains the cedar slopes above Barouk village in the Shouf. In the wet season it runs clear over rock between terraces and picnic spots; in late summer it thins to pools. The river is a nature sight in its own right and the lower companion to the Barouk cedar reserve, useful if you want water, shade and an easier walk than the high ridge. Families stop at the banks, and hikers cross it on the way toward Maasser and the biosphere trails. Avoid litter, and be careful on wet stone. It belongs on any itinerary that already includes the cedars and the historic towns below.
