The souk mosque of Chhim, Masjid al Souq, is the mosque of the market streets in the centre of town. A souk mosque is a practical institution: midday prayer for shopkeepers and a minaret that marks the commercial heart. It is different from the citadel mosque and from Masjid al Badawi, and listing them separately matches how residents give directions. Visitors should be modest in dress and unobtrusive during salah. After prayer times, the surrounding market is the best way to see ordinary Chhim beyond the Roman temple. It is a small, precise historic and civic stop.
