Welcome to Herch Al Baladye

Deir El Qamar
Herch al Baladye is the town woodland of Deir el Qamar, a patch of pine and hillside used for walks, picnics and a break from the stone lanes of the old capital. In the Chouf, a horsh like this one is part of the landscape system that also includes the great cedar reserves of Barouk and Maasser: everyday shade close to home, not a distant national park. Paths are informal. Families come on clear afternoons, and hikers use it as a gentle add-on after the palaces and Jabal al Salib. There are no temple façades here, which is the point. Bring water, stay on obvious paths and treat the trees as the reason for the visit.
