Church el Bouwebe in Jbeil takes its name from Bab el Bouwebe, a gate and quarter of old Byblos. The church belongs to that neighbourhood inside the medieval walls, a short walk from the souk, the Roman street and the citadel. It is a parish-scale building in a town of many churches, best found on foot using the gate name. Dress modestly and visit quietly. Combining it with Notre Dame Maritime and Saint Aquilina shows how tightly packed the sacred map of Byblos is. The Sea Castle and the harbour are minutes away if you want the classic view afterwards.
