Welcome to Sanayeh

Sanayeh Garden, officially the René Moawad Garden, is the historic public park of central Beirut beside the old crafts district from which it takes its popular name. Paths, ficus trees and a daily crowd of walkers, students and families make it the capital’s most traditional city park, as opposed to the sea corniche. It is a pause between Hamra, Kantari and the museum district. Evenings are the busiest and the most pleasant. There is no monument you must see; the point is public shade in a dense city. For parks in Beirut, Sanayeh is the essential one, with the corniche as its seaside counterpart.
