St Joseph Church in Jounieh honours Joseph, the spouse of Mary, a dedication found in Christian towns across Lebanon and especially visible on his feast in March. The Jounieh parish sits in the coastal city beneath Harissa, so a visit can be combined with Our Lady of Lebanon, the bay and the other hillside churches of Haret Sakher. It is a neighbourhood religious landmark more than an archaeological site. Come for the architecture and the calm on a weekday, or for the liturgy if that is your reason for travelling. Modest clothing is expected. Together with St John the Beloved and Our Lady of Peace it completes a compact church walk.
